Yet again as it has done throughout its ignominious rule, this regime is showing no qualms or scruples whatsoever in reneging on even its own pledges and declarations as it seeks to silence even peaceful gatherings of women, workers and civilians at a public venue ["Freedom" Park] to mark - among other things - the International Women's Day, also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace. The UN is and has been an important instrument in helping to restore 'peace and stability' after the long period of armed conflict and violence in the seventies and eighties as well as ensuring this restoration would be accompanied by the establishment of the "rule of law" and democratic pluralism where human rights and freedom of assembly and the exercise thereof are core principles and tenets of the national constitution itself.

Whereas 'peace and stability' can be said to have been realised to an extent, the next component of the UN's effort and the PPA to install democratic governance still leaves so much to be desired. That this is the case has been cataloged and analysed by so many onlookers and writers on Cambodian affairs and recent history, and in particular, the CPP regime's dreaded ability to thrive on the back of a war torn nation's prolonged misery and agony has been attributed to one ex-KR commander's Machiavellian instinct that verges on the nihilistic extreme [if indeed, the term 'nihilistic' or nihilism itself is open to such variation or gradation!]  combined with his pathological lust for blood and his reliance on violence and terror as his ultimate recourse in dealing with political threats posed by opponents.

Politics as an art and practice is not a precise science - it steers and veers along routes partly foreseen and envisaged and partly unforeseen and contrived by its practitioners to fit in with what these practitioners believe to be the best possible option in light of the circumstances of the day. What these practitioners believe is in turn governed and dictated by their conditioned state of mind and character trait or nerves which can fluctuate according to the changing colour of emotions or moods, and to detected external threats of which the best or most odious of Machiavellian among them have a keen, but dispassionate or detached instinct over.

When we ask why so many innocent lives have been lost and no concrete results have been shown in favour of the victims' untold pain and sacrifice, we can only partly attribute such moral challenge and question to the man who sits pretty and self-assured on the heaps of those innocents' corpses. The most direct and pertinent question we must ask is whether those pretending to be his protagonists understand even the state of their own psyche and emotions, and whether these forces have been shaping their conducts and guiding their resolves to the overall benefit and good of a nation they claim to love and protect or, indeed to its grievous detriment?

What have gone wrong since the UN sponsored landmark election in 1993? Who had led his nation like lambs to the slaughter since then by negotiating 'peace and reconciliation' with the man who has nothing but contempt for rivals and adversaries who go by their hearts instead of their heads, and who refuse to tap into the far greater array of weapons and forces already positioned behind them through their unequivocal will and aspirations? Is there any known people or nation on earth that do not value freedom and dignified existence? What lessons, if any, have the Opposition leadership drawn from this suicidal legacy? Is it that far more important for Mr Subedi to have something positive to report in his regular update on the country's troubles so that the UN can wash its hands off the Cambodian situation yet again because the parties are to all intent and purposes committed to overcoming their differences via peaceful dialogue and negotiation? Even while ordinary citizens continue to be steamrolled over, intimidated and shot at in the streets?

If Vietnam cut electricity, then I believe Cambodia can buy electricity from Thailand. Cambodia can build a new plant.

The very big problem right now is hun sen.

When Sam Rainsy is elected and becomes the legitimate leader of Cambodia that Cambodia has never had for the past 30+ years since Vietnam's INVASION, then we will have a new team who will know how to utilize resources in the most efficient way.

Sam Rainsy is not a puppet of Vietnam; therefore, he will try to work for the nation as a whole.

As we all know, hun sen does not work for the interest of Cambodia, and that is the biggest problem.

Anonymous said...

If Cambodia had a leader, she would be much better off. Intel wanted to set up plants in Cambodia, but hun sen, a ignorant thug, did not allow it. That alone would bring thousands of good-paying jobs to Cambodia. Instead, Intel moved to Vietnam. If Cambodia had a leader, this would not happen.

If Cambodia had a leader, there would be NO demonstration or protests. The fact that people demonstrate against hun sen already tells the whole story.

Under hun sen, thousands of people escape to foreign countries like Thailand and Taiwan to work overseas for high-paying jobs. The ones that are left behind have to face with the unsustainable paying wages.

Under hun sen, garment factory workers faint just about every day. Under hun sen, people DON'T like him, PERIOD.

My goodness, just to look at his face alone makes me nauseate.

Anonymous said...

oops, spelling error, should have been "an ignorant," instead of "a ignorant." Sometimes when you type fast, that's what happens.

Anonymous said...

If Cambodia had a leader, there would be no ugly-looking and fake religious building on top of the sacred Bokor Mountain. If Cambodia had a leader, the Great Lake of Tonle Sap would remain pristine. Right not it is being contaminated with dirty blood of human waste from Vietnamese people.

If Cambodia had a leader, teachers would be paid decently and education would be the top priority. Soldiers would have a better pay.

But Cambodia has a group of thugs. And that is the biggest problem. That's why people want to have a leader. Can thugs lead? NO, of course not. If they were leaders, then they wouldn't be called thugs!

Anonymous said...

If Cambodia had a leader, Angkor Wat would be properly managed. Hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars will be used efficiently. Right now the money is in a few pockets, and some of them are Viets.

Good gracious, there is so much to describe if Cambodia has a leader.

Cambodians crave for a leader. They have been living without one for the past 30+ years since Vietnam invaded the country.

Anonymous said...

If Sam Rainsy gets elected, I can envisage a good and equitable realm.

More jobs will be coming to Cambodia and those garment factory workers will earn a decent and dignified living wage. How? Here's how it works. Right now we have one of the most corrupt nations on the planet earth. Those companies have to bribe hun se [note intentional lower-case letters] when they want to set up plants in Cambodia. So the bribery goes to a few corrupt, fat, and ugly people. This money is in the millions of dollars.

If Sam Rainsy is elected, companies don't have to bribe the corrupt thugs. The money can directly go to the pockets of the garment workers. It benefits both the workers and the companies. This is called resource allocation in its basic principle.

An employee who works for the "government" for 20 years cannot earn enough money to buy even one used motorcycle. He has to use an old bicycle. We are talking about a soldier here. He has to defend the nation. But another employee of the "government" drives Lexus SUVs. How come?

Well, under the thuggish hun sen communist regime, this is what corruption can do to the nation and the people.

"...Who had led his nation like lambs to the slaughter since then by negotiating 'peace and reconciliation' with the man who has nothing but contempt for rivals...their hearts instead of their heads and who refuse to tap into the far greater array of weapons and forces already positioned behind them through their unequivocal will and aspirations?"

SOV,

You have certainly earned an "A+" with the above well-written and well-expressed thought of yours! Love it so much!

"What lessons, if any, have the Opposition leadership drawn from this suicidal legacy?"

What lessons? A lot in reality, but hardly any in practice!

The problem with the opposition is the weakness, Lack of Courage and inability on the part of the leadership to take advantage of the ripened forces of changes! The opposition, unlike what its leaders like to portray through loud rhetoric of a fight till the end to get what is theirs, has never thought of the bottom line, i.e.,how far they are prepared to fight Hun Sen, to reach their goal. It seems like they have no real ultimate objective and play along and are constantly forced or willing to some extent to adapt to Hun Sen's games all the while looking hardly for ways to get into government out of the deep hole they dug themselves in without having to lose faith and trust from its supporters. Now Hun Sen is getting the upper hand without sustaining any loss or damage to his arsenal!

'Is it that far more important for Mr Subedi...via peaceful dialogue and negotiation?"

Advice is given, but one has to ask themselves if, by following the advice, one can even move a single step from the starting point. If not, then taking the advice is tantamount to joining a race, but is not prepared to race. In a race it is you, the runner who has to run and you cannot expect someone else to run for you; of course they can pass you a glass of water and cheer you on along the way, but RUN you must on your own! Let us stop the culture of asking SOMEONE else to run for us.

I hope the CNRP will NOT make a deadly mistake for convenience and lack of courage's sake to join the parliament to smooth unsettled business away without getting an independent NEC and a nationally and internationally acknowledged promise on the part of Hun Sen to hold a new election at the latest in the first quarter of 2015.

Hun Sen has lost the election and must be pressured or forced to go, if not now which is understandable since the great opportunity to do so is gone, in the near future through a new election. Any other deal is suicidal in the long run and will be the end of the political careers of Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha; it will also and certainly deal a dead blow to the spirit of resistance and fight for changes.

If we fight and lose the battle, we retain the spirit, courage and determination to fight again as a united group sharing the same and common goal and we will always have the support of the bystanders who may eventually join us, but we get cheated by our leaders, we can be disillusioned, fragmented and destroyed with no chance of recovery for a long time to come.

It is not too late yet, as long as we steal breathing, we can still find way and other solution to solve the problem and to overcome of such battle. How? Well, keep going, keep on demonstrating until the job is done, eventually, this VC Hun Sen thug will fall apart because of no one wants to deal with them anymore (economic collapse). If not, we all are going to die too, anyway. So, it is better to die standing then to kneel down. e.g like, are you welling to be their slaves forever or what? like your daily income is not even enough to feed yourself left alone your family. What is the point of going to work for almost getting nothing, while the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

RIght now, the Viet/VC is controlling everything and they make sure that, we have almost nothing to eat, so that they can continue to control as us as well as exploiting us for their nation interest etc e.g khmers are too poor and we need more donations from the developed world etc, but only to fall into their evil hands, not the poor ones.

Their evil tactics are plentiful, like they help to create one party after another for us to fight among each other, so that they could have it all in the end. how? same old tactics and tricks, they helped Pol Pot to kill his own people without him knowing it and then, in the end, they would say 'Pol Pot it'.

Now, they are doing the same thing to Hun Sen and will say 'Hun Sen did it' e.g like they create a nation full of corrupting be against the gang of three and will blame on khmers leader on either side and say, 'Sam or Kem or Hun did it'....why? because this is what they are good at, they like to lie, decieve, defame, frame, manipulate and kill. why? because history has shown that this evil nation can never survive well without robbing of their neighbouring countries, like they did it to Laos, Chompa, Khmer Krom now called 'South Viet' (thanks to the French because of too contempt with their whores), now Srok KHmer if we let them, and is already speading into Thailand and Burma.

Anyway, both China and Vietnam are the ones behind such dramma within the Southeast Asia and of course they are ones responsible for such crime against humanity and its destruction, why? because they can never survive well without robbing from the poorer nations and also without having war. They have to create war to make money e.g through selling their war related weapons like guns, tanks, bullets, etc. e.g how Viets is owing trillion of $ to China and Russia, and how Viets have to rob from from us (khmers) victims to give it to China or Russia.

And so, who is the main perpetrator here? the super power nations of course. Just like the bigger fish is eating the smaller ones etc.

Blessed are those who have eyes to see, ears to hear, and mouth to speak truth, Amen.

What should have been a glorious day of celebration to honor and respect Women's Rights Day turned into a circus show orchestrated by hun sen. He has demonstrated an unwillingness to compromise and prefers to put on a clown act. If this buffoon hun sen loves to clown, I hear the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is looking to hire a monkey who enjoys performing tricks and treats.

It's the body of work that women over the years have produced to improve all aspects of life that we gather to signify the important role they play in society on this day. However, instead of a proper celebration and the acknowledgement of their achievements, in the Kingdom of Outlaws we were treated to a circus act conducted by the buffoon hun sen.

What a marvelous show this buffoon prepared, and he promises in the future to put on better performances. Please stay tuned, folks, the show has only just begun!

1. HUN SEN is a criminal, mafia boss, corruption, bribery, murderer, land-grabber and other criminal activities.
2. HUN SEN is destroying Cambodian livelihoods and the national resources.
3. HUN SEN gave Cambodia territory to Vietnamese and allowed millions of illegal Vietnamese to settle inside Cambodia.
4. HUN SEN is selling Cambodian land and leased forests to foreigners.
5. HUN SEN stole billions of dollars in foreign aids, donations and loans. He used those money to paid the armed forces for his personal security guards, bought luxury cars, tanks, armor vehicles, built massive buildings for his personal protection, gave millions dollars to each sons, daughters and relatives, etc.
6. HUN SEN used armed forces to evict the poor Cambodian; crack down and murdered the evictee protestors.
7. HUN SEN used armed forces to crack down the opposition parties.
8. HUN SEN passed all crazy Laws to crack down and jailed the opposition party members, Human Rights activists, Land Rights activists, Unions workers and people against him.
9. HUN SEN used his power to stay and control the government even though lost an election.
10. HUN SEN other criminal activities are to kill all Cambodian quietly like accidental deaths, no free medical cares, no free cares for new born babies, no free foods and housing for the poor and forced evictees, etc.
11. HUN SEN’s criminal activities are not accountable by the United Nations and International Criminal Courts.

Drgunzet,

Drgunzet,
I have followed some of your comments for quite sometimes and I felt that you have contributed nothing but completely in denial. If you own a car and how can you expect others to get into your car if you do not permit them, unless you are either let them in or they can steal your car to get into your car or steal the whole car for that matter. The same can apply to CNRP and CPP, in fact, it is even worse than the concept of getting into the car. My point is that, CNRP has no keys and that the real keys are in the hand of CPP leadership, especially hun sen. So, you can forget about the oppositions bringing in investments in Cambodia since they do not have the capacity to have a constructive performance in dealing with foreign investments. If you like to learn more about bringing in Foreign Direct Investments or (FDI) you need to learn about Globalization and how it works. Hun Sen’s wife is Chinese and her cronies are also Chinese, do you honestly think that the Chinese investors in Cambodia are doing it on behalf of Hun Sen? Look at the Chinese Associations sprouting all over Cambodia, less forget about the Vietnamese Associations at this moment. There is one cable released by the US State Department and in that cable, before Sihanouk decease, Sihanouk has made a vow to follow the path of the Chinese government. His mother, queen Kossomak, died in China right before the fall of Cambodia on April 17th, 1975.
To me, none of the Goddamn politicians in Cambodia have done nothing to help sustain the country economically, but their real intention is to exploit the Cambodian people and the resources of Cambodia. These fucking politicians care about nothing, but power, money and sex. They care about buying new Lexus, building new mansions from money they have stolen from selling the country resources, compounding their wealth to many folds. The problems in Cambodia can be easily solved by studying countries from around the globe. If the intent is to reduce poverty, reconstructing and rehabilitating our infrastructures, then these Goddamn politicians have done nothing, as far as I am concerned.
It is not that difficult to build roads, schools, hospitals, highway system, railway system, education reform, banking reform, election reform, etc. These problems are easily tackled, but the Goddamn politicians just simply are sitting on their asses and deny the progress of our nation. If I have it my way, I would pull away of all their immunities and put them all in prison and sent them to be rehabilitated and reformer schools.
